Innovative marketer takes the reins to drive growth
ATLANTA – April 16, 2019 – Cookerly Public Relations, a leading Atlanta-based public relations firm, today announced Stephen Brown has assumed the role of president, succeeding Founder Carol Cookerly who will remain with the company as CEO focused on its highly successful crisis and issues management practice.
Formerly the agency’s executive vice president and chief innovation officer, Brown has been responsible for the acquisition of numerous high-profile consumer-focused and business-to-business clients because of his off-the-charts creativity and pragmatic business instincts. His efforts have consistently yielded positive, bottom-line impacts for clients and secured long-lasting relationships for the company.
“For four years I have marveled at the level and speed at which Stephen creates doable marketing campaigns. He is exceptionally smart and now it’s time his fingerprints are on everything we do internally and externally,” said Cookerly. “I’m turning the reins over to him with total confidence knowing the future is as bright as ever.”
Brown joined Cookerly in 2015 after more than 20 years in public relations, most recently as executive vice president and managing director for the Atlanta office of a global public relations firm.
“I’m simultaneously humbled and excited by this opportunity and look forward to implementing new strategies with the best team with whom I have ever been associated,” Brown stated. “Thanks to new business gains in 2018, we expanded our revenue stream with a very diverse portfolio of clients, and I will be focusing my energies to sustain that upward momentum.”
Brown has been active in the Georgia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), previously serving as its president, and in 2017 earning its highest honor with induction into the Order of the Phoenix, emblematic of significant career achievements and exemplary community service. On the heels of that award, Brown was named to the Georgia PRSA Hall of Fame.
He is a 1995 graduate of the University of South Carolina where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. In addition, Brown was one of only 75 business people selected for Leadership Atlanta’s prestigious yearlong executive training program from which he graduated in 2017.
